Last grandmaster of the Knights Templar. Arrested by the Inquisition in 1307, imprisoned and tortured until his death in 1314. When Louis XV was beheaded in 1774, a man jumped onto the guillotine platform, raised the severed head of the King above the crowd and shouted “Jacques de Molay, thou art avenged!”
