Lorraine meets with Winston Churchill, an important
British politician. They form a secret pact
to topple the Cordovan Emirate (present-day
Spain and Portugal), the last bastion of Islam
in western Europe.
Julien meets with Father Calvet and Brother
Matthew, a young Inquisitor. Matthew tells Julien
the grandfather of Godefroi de Bouillon, the
first Duke of Lorraine, is Lohengrin, the “Swan
Knight” of the Grail epics. It’s
a direct connection between the House of Lorraine
and the legendary Grail Family.
Matthew also shows Julien that The Shepherds
of Arcadia is secretly constructed around
a pentagram, centered on the eye of the shepherdess
in the painting.
Lorraine discovers one of his daughter’s
late-night sexual encounters, and is furious
with her.
