It is dedicated to Judas Iscariot. Judas, it
seems, was not Christ’s betrayer. He willingly
sacrificed his life in an elaborate deception
to allow Jesus to escape crucifixtion…
but to where, and for what purpose?
King Louis XXII personally visits parliament
to rally opposition to Lorraine’s annexation
of the Spanish Marches. Despite this unprecedented
move, the annexation passes both houses of parliament,
overruling the King. It is a stunning victory
for Lorraine, and a humiliating defeat for Louis.
